My problem started when the check engin light came on. Then it started acting like it was hesitating changing gears when moving and has a slight rattling noise. The check engine light turned off. I took it to the dealer and they said it was that the transmission cooler lines had a leak? Could this be the problem?

I am not sure about the rattle, but it is quite possible for leaking cooler line to cause sluggishness in shifting. You will not shift right if you are low on transmission fluid.

Do you have the code numbers for the check engine light?

Go to your local Autozone and have them scan the computer for free. Don't buy anything yet, get back to us with the code numbers.

As for your transmission cooler line, I cannot get any from aftermarket. You have to get it from the dealership. I cannot give you any price range, I have never dealt with one before. But to give you some perspective, an aftermarket cooler line for a mid-90 GM car with 3.1L V6 is $140 (I just bought one) and $230 from the dealership.
