In for routine service told that differential is leaking at two different seals, no kit available, need to replace entirely. Suggesting $2900.00. Is this reasonable?

NO WAY. Tell your technician to open an interchange book. There should be a number on the seals to cross to aftermarket seals such as Timken, BCA National, SKF and many others.
