Our T & C has been intermittently failing to start for the past two years. If we turn the key and hit the steering wheel or underneath the steering column it will start (most of the time). We have occassionally has to leave it sit for a half hour or longer before trying to start. The hitting trick does not always work. I have changed the lock cylinder and the ignition switch in the column without luck. I have switched the relay for the ignition relay and the ASR(?) The problem still exists. Any ideas?

When it doesn't start, have you checked to see if the engine is getting spark and fuel? One will be missing and I need to know which one it is.

Let me know.

Thanks for your reply. It is not getting fuel or spark at the time this problem occurs. I am absolutely convinced it is something in the steering column that is loose. The problem comes and goes randomly. The engine gets spark and fuel when I hold the key in the starting position and hit the steering wheel or steering column a couple of times. Could it be the clockspring in the steering column causing this problem?
