Engine Cooling problem 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Yesterday my engine light came on our 2000 minivan, 3.3 engine. We got a code of P1491 indicating a radiator fan relay circuit condition. The car overheated as a result on the wife's return home from work. She turned on the heat and the overheating was abated temporarily. Where can we start to check for the problem? I checked the relays and fuses near the battery and there is no fan relay circuit. I see a blower motor relay. I also see a "rad fan" 40v fuse which looks difference from the rest of the 40's. Where is the radiator fan relay located in the mini-van? Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Ron N. Johnson.

Hello,

The radiator fan control relay is solid start and is located down on the core support near the radiator on the drivers side. Here are some diagram so you can see for yourself. (Below)

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers, Ken

Is there such an item as a low speed radiator fan relay and if so 1. Is it isolated from the fan itself?
2. Where is it located?

Thank You

I never heard of one. The fans run at one speed when they are on.

This is not your normal relay. It is a solid state relay and it's mounted to the inside of the frame in the front driver's side, near the radiator.
