I just had the radiator repaired after blowing a hose. Today the engine made a huge sound and literally made a "Boom" sound followed by a lot of smoke. You could smell the oil. The tow truck driver said the engine was completely void of oil. I had added more oil two days ago. Now it is empty. The mechanic said there is a possible blown engine rod. I need an estimate on repairs and if it would be worth it due to the market value of the van.

If the engine has blown, you should be able to get a good one from a salvage yard for around 1000.00 plus labor to install. If the van is in good shape, it may be worth fixing. Think about it. In today's world, what can you get for 2K dollars. Cash for clunkers has taken away most of the cars that the average person could afford.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Joe
