2006 Chrysler Sebring catalytic converter

I was told that my catalytic converter would need to be replaced soon after the check engine light came on. I can smell it once in a while. I just was told last night that Chrysler has to cover it for 8 years or 80,000 miles due to emmissions regulations. Is this true?

IF the cat is bad, then yes that is correct on the warranty.
