2006 Chrysler Sebring Car revving upon start and idle

Engine Mechanical problem
2006 Chrysler Sebring 4 cyl 91340 miles

Car is revving with the rpm and spedometer gauges moving when car is started and when stopping without gas pedal being used...also when stopped car hiccups

Since the engine's idle is unstable the first thing that will need inspected are the vacuum hoses in the engine compartment. A loose or broken vacuum hose can cause this issue. If the engine light is on then it means there may be trouble code(s) stored that can pinpoint the culprit, so have the codes retrieved. It could be a faulty throttle position sensor or other electrical component failing causing this issue and if so the vehicle's computer should notice it and throw the engine light on.
