my oil light comes on when the rmp's dip below 1,000. I have had regular oil changes and the fluid level is perfect. what could make this happen? do oil pumps just sort of come and go for a time then Konk out? or do they just go out immediately? could that be the problem? the car is running just wonderfully and does not over heat or anything so what is up with that oil light that comes on when the rpm's dip below 1,000?

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge if normal replace the oil pressure switch abnormal could mean oil pump and engine bearings.
