Had a sudden major oil leak and when we checked it out, can see no visible damage to the oil pan (just some asphalt from the road getting paved) and it was leaking from the crankshaft seal. We replaced the seal and it was fine for about 5 minutes and then it blew the seal and the oil started pouring out. Any idea what could be causing this?

Might want to check the PCV system-might no be relieving the pressure and causing it to blow out seals and gasket. Blowby creates pressure in the crankcase.
