Everytime I come down from third gear, whether my foot is on the brake or not, my car jerks and makes a pound noise. I believe I've heard it called a "downshift bump" but I don't know about it. My car shifts upward smoothly into every gear. The only problem is downshifting from third into second right around 25-29mph. Any idea what it may be and how much it may cost to repair?

It sounds like the TCM (trans control module) is causing the problem. The part is located ubove the trans pan on the front of the transmission. It is about a 150.00 part. You should have it checked before replacing it, but that is my first guess.

Let me know what you find.
