I just rebuit a 2.7 liter dual cam flex fuel engine. It has code P0340 on it. When I unplug the sensor the engine will run fine. I have check and verified that the sensor has 8 volts on it. When I took the sensor out and put metal in front of it the fuel pump turned on. I repeatedly did this. Everything was replaced in the engine. What I read talks about preforming verification test # 5 ngc. Will this reset something in the PCM that will allow this motor to start properly. What does ngc stand for. Is there a
procedure that can be done to fix this problem without the DRBIII scan tool.

If it start with cam sensor disconnect and or after long cranking
but will not start with sensor connected
engine was rebuilt
i would have to say to go back and recheck timing
hook scanner and check crank and cam sensor if zero
you may have jump timing

The timing is fine. What else could cause this. As I stated earlier. What is verification test 5, what does ngc mean, and is there a procedure that can be done without the DRBIII tool.

Need a scanner that read data (no need for DRBIII )
select data
scroll down looking for CRANK cam

If not in sync timing is the issue
