My car smells like fuel ..or a fuel type smell a few minutes after cranking and driving. It smokes from the front driver's side with smoke...briefly. After driving a few minutes..the smoke and smell goes away. Running the air or heat seems to agitate it. But it always goes away after a few minutes (2 or 3) of driving. What is causing this problem?

Could be a small amount of oil leaking past the valve cover gasket. A new gasket will probably solve the problem.
