My transmission pan was leaking. So my friend attempted to fix the problem. Upon fixing it he found that 8 of the 16 holes were stripped were the pan is held in place so he was not able to properly fix the problem. The previous owner had the pan originally glued and we think that it was damaged due to an accident that had happened prior to me owning it. The car was totalled at one point and was fixed prior to me buying it. Is there a way to have the holes recapped without costing a lot? Or should we attempt to glue it back on? Or am I screwed?

Get yourself a tap and die set from a parts store. Example Alltrade 410593 from Checker O'Reilly.

Use the one of the tap screws to slightly enlarge the stripped bolt holes and you can use a slightly larger bolts (matching the size of the tap screw you use).

And use RTV sealant to help hold the pan up.
