I left my keys in my car last week and killed the battery. I had it jumped and it ran fine for 2 days. When my wife was driving my car home it started to lose power and the battery light came on. I jumped it and it started right up only to die on its own after 5-10 minutes. I then replaced the alternator (3rd one since this past july) and charged the battery. Car stated fine ran for 15 minutes and then died while I was driving it home. I have talked to a mechanic and the next thing I am going to do is replace the positive cable from the battery to the alternator. If this doesn't work I don't know what else to do and I am wondering why I am on the 3rd alternator.

Three alternators is real common, ... On GM cars. Chrysler has very little trouble. It sounds like there is some other intermittent problem. If you can catch it when it is acting up, the place to start is by measuring the voltages on the two small wires on the back of the alternator. This must be done with the engine running. No voltage will be there when the engine is not rotating, (cranking or running).

One terminal must have full battery voltage; the other one should have less than battery voltage, but not 0 volts. That second voltage will determine the next step in the diagnosis.
