This is a problem that has been going on for awhile. I might be inheriting this car from my father, but I am not sure if it is a good idea. This car has had this continuous electrical problems where the dash lights and what not will flicker. He has also had to take it in to a dealer to get the transmission 'reset' or something to that effect. What could cause these types of problems?

Sounds like a charging system problem start by having the alternator load tested.
