The trip display comes on briefly when the car is started but the shows no compass direction nor mpg and the rest of the functions. Can this be caused by a bad connection with the computer and where is it located? PK

Your CMTC module does not connect to the PCM, but rather the body control module. Diagnostic for the BCM can only be performed using Chrysler DRB scan tool. In your case, if the CMTC is very crucial to your driving, a visit to your Chrysler service center is required.

Yes, I gathered your have the convertible. The coupe (which was based of Mitsubishi Eclipse) was not offered with CMTC.

As far as I am informed, the demagnetization can only be done at a service center. Chrysler DRB scan tool is necessary to access the body control computer for the process. I will forward this question to my colleagues to see if any of them has experience with this procedure.
