Water is coming into my convertible when it rains. It comes in on the passenger side. It looks like it has nothing to do with the top, rather it must be coming in between the window and door, into the panel. My top was cut open one time by someone who wanted to get into my glove compartment. They may have tried to get in that way first.

Anyway, the water is not draining. Something must be glogged up. Maybe a hole needs to be drilled or something. If this is something I can do with the help of a neighbor, it would be great as I'm about to retire and I don't have much money. The water gets to the point where it's coming up through the floor on the passenger side and you can hear alot of water squishing back and forth. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

On my 1996 it was happening after a rain or going to a car wash. When I was driving, I would stop and hear this sloshing sound from the trunk. The trunk and tire well were okay. After further investigating, the water was inside the rocker panels and would overflow into the interior floors. FIX: from under the car, where the rocker meets the floor panel and is spot welded together, locate a small opening between the seam where the two panels come together. Along that run, notice small openings between the panels and in-between the spot welds. Take a wire coat hanger and stick it through between the two panels and wriggle it around. It goes in on a slight angle in several places. Poke the holes out from back to front and do this occasionally to keep it clear. The drainage system goes from the base of the top, and through the rockers by design. Keep 'em clear and it won't rust out either!
