Hi, my car was diagnosed by a mechanic as having a bad fuel pump. The car would turn over, but not start.I replaced the fuel pump, and now the car won't start. It is still turning over but wont start. There was only about a gallon of gas before I drained it, and I only put in about a galllon after the repair. Does the car need at least a certain amount of fuel to start after a fuel pump repair? I'm nervous that I just spent all my money on a repair that was misdiagnosed. Thank you.

Hi, when you first turn the key on, no crank, can you hear the pump run for a few seconds? Use a gage and check fuel pressure, some of the national brand autostores used to loan a fuel pressure gage. You can call and ask. I don't know if one gallon is enough to reach the pick-up for the pump?

You can also check voltage and ground for the pump motor, engine cranking, if you can reach the connector.
