I have a 2001 PT Cruiser 2.0 Touring Auto. Low 23,000 miles.
Showing the Limp light and error code P0700.
No warning of a fault, no loss of fluid, ATF looks OK, no smells. Drive and Reverse function, but in limp mode (ie 1st & 2nd gear only).
Dealer cannot offer any advice on this code saying that it could be anything!!! No other error codes showing. Recommendation is to replace the transmission - anticipating that this will resolve the problem. Sounds like a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Any advice urgently needed. I can't believe a transmission can just fail after 23000 miles.
