2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser 75000 miles

Today when driving home I noticed an odor, kind of like burnt toast, when I was stopped at red lights. The car ran smoothly, no noise, no smoke, none of the indicator lights went on, engine temperature remained steady. When I stopped the car and opened the hood the smell seemed to come near the cap where you add the power steering fluid. I haven't had fluids checked for quite a while.

Hi Nancy
This sounds like a power steering pump going out or a rack and pinion going bad.

you can have the powersteering flushed and this will buy a little time.

but really until you have a hard steering issue there is nothing to worry about..............ty billymac
