2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser brakes and noises

When traveling about 55-60 mph then having to apply brakes to slow down when turning or coming to a stop the brakes squeek, grind and then there is a noise that is low and sounds like its broken and the brakes are hitting it. It is a deep sound and basically goes (dodododododododod). Not sure how to describe the sound. Now the steering seem to be acting up as well.
