As I turn the fan speed from low to high the hot air temperature reduces to a point of just blowing cold air on high. Do you have any ideas as to what could cause this?

My first guess is there is a partial blockage in the heater core. At low speeds, the fan cools the heater core at a slower rate. There may be enough heat created by the core to keep up with it. WHen the fan is on high, it cools the heater core faster. If there isn't enough coolant passing through the core, it cools off.

Try flushing the heater core first. Also, make sure the engine is running at a normal operating temp and not too cool.

Let me know what you find.
