2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser defective water pump

2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

a few weeks ago my chrysler pt cruiser began leaking oil, we took it to the mechanic and he said that the water pump that we replaced only a few months ago was defective and a piece had broken off the back causing the problems with the timing belt and had also poked a hole in the oil pump. He said the water pump broke due to a manufactures defect. This problem is going to cost a great deal to fix. Is there any possiblility that the water pump manufacturer would be liable for most or any of these charges?

That is hard to say. Obviously the company will more than likely argue that dispute. So any chance of getting these repairs paid for by the manufacturer would probably require a law suit. The only way to find out is to contact the manufacturer personally and talk to them about the situation.
