I too have a problem with my check engine light and the OBDII says it is a EGR Fault. However, if I sit and iddle for long periods of time, ie got caught in a snow fall and was unable to get off the freeway and sat there for 5 hrs. The light comes on. If i run the car at full speed the light will go off until I idle again. The car also acts like it wants to stall however something kicks in and the car idles up and if you don't have your feet firmly on the brake you will hit the car in front of you. Will changing the EGR valve in the car prevent this from happening? I have taken it to 2 diffent dealerships for this problem and their solution was to clean the fuel injectors and that did not help the situation.

The egr can have an effect on the idle. Check it to see if it is stuck or carbon has caused a problem.

Let me know what you find.
