Synthetic Oil

Good Evening,

I just had my car serviced and had my oil changed over to synthetic. Now my oil light is coming on. Can you advise why? Oil is at max.

Also, just had the fan (heat/cold air) fixed, some switch defective - fan would not turn up or down. Is this a common malfunction with this vehicle?

I have spent a lot of money on this car in the last 2 years and I am ready to turn it in!

Your reply will be greatly appreciated.

Is your oil pressure normall? Could be that they bumped the oil sending unit and disconnected it when the oil was changed, I would take it to them and hvae them fix it, free of charge.

With the switch I havent heard of it being a common problem, sometimes they are just subpar materials.

Not sure if the pressure is normal. IT seems when I come to a 'stop' the oil light comes on? I had it serviced on Saturday and the light just started coming on this evening.

Have a call into the dealership and yes they better fix it for nothing. I have put a new battery, new tires, new brake pads, new fan switch, new wipers and have it serviced regularly for oil changes. So there should be absolutely nothing else wrong. But there always seems to be something with this car.

Thanks for your reply.

How many miles are on the vehicle?

Once all the stuff is replaced you should be able to go probelm free for a long time!

If you have alot of miles in it then I wouldnt be surprised at the reparis done.

Also whats the operating conditions of the vehicle?

89,000 kilometres, bought it when it had 44,000 on it. Basically my kilometres are all highway driving.

The operating conditions of the vehicle are fine. It runs very well. It just seems that since I bought the car I have had to replace too many things. I kind of blame the dealership I bought it from as I am sure some of this stuff was noted but they did not want to spend the $$$.

I always think that. After I have the car fixed. Okay now it should be good and then something else comes up. I think it is just a 'lemon' and unfortunately I got stuck with it. I am going back to the shop tomorrow (Friday) so will see why my oil pressure light is coming on. I am seriously thinking on trading it in. Will let you know what they tell me.

They told me it 'could' be the 'sensor'. However, I made an appointment for 10 am. By 11:30 they still had not looked at my car. Briefly someone said it could be that but they were on another big job? Anyhow. 135.00 to test to see if that is it and another $160.00 for the sensor. Said Oil was clear and full. So I said forget it!

Yes I am not spending any more money on this car. If there is something else that goes wrong (major issue) then I will get rid of the vehicle but until then. Will keep driving it. Thanks very much for your assistance.

How many miles?

Take it to a autozone and have them throw it on a scanner and tell you the codes for free.

Post back what you find and I can try and help you!

The oil pressure sending unit goes out on these cars once and awhile, the dealer could have done it for 85 dollars. Your one of the people that gets upset when your car needs normal maintenance like brakes. You think because they did an oil change it's their fault the sending unit went out. Like getting a flat after an oil change, it had to be their fault. Next time take a used car to a mechanic and they can give you a cost to fix the car before you buy it. I have a 04 and 05 with 200,000 miles and they run great because I keep up the maintenance
