I would like to change my automatic trans filter and oil

I would like to change my Pacifica Auto trans filter/oil. I already know about the majority of the oil being in the torque converter but the question is: Do I really have to jack the engine up a bit to drop the pan and get the filter out? It looks like there is enough clearance but if the filter hangs down a bit than I can see it hitting the frame, maybe. I don't want to get have way through and then realize that I do have to loosen the two bolts (or remove them) and jack the engine up which would be a real pain for me. (note: the service manual words it like it may be an option for ease of removal)

Hello,

It is recommended that you take off the engine mount bolts and tilt it up to give you enough room.
When you do a drain and fill, you should need about 4 QT of ATF+4 transmission fluid.
I would recommend catching the used fluid in a container that you can measure, this will take any guess work out of how much fluid you might need.
