Engine Performance problem

I have given the car a complete tune up in the last month; carburetor, disributor, oil change, fuel filter, pcv valve, plugs and wires. The car was running the best it has since I got it. The other day I was doing a gas milage test and all of a sudden the engine power cut out and eventually died out. I tried starting it back up but the power was too weak and died out again. What could this be.
