1994 Chrysler New-yorker overheating

I have a 1994 Chrysler New Yorker, 160,000 miles, V-6 that just overheated. I added coolant and did not see any leaks. The top radiator hose was soft. Could it be the thermostat?

Start with a cheap fix with replacing the Stat and Rad cap.
