1991 Chrysler New Yorker shiffter

I have 91 new yorker, the shift lever moves freely
it's stuck in drive, and the lever has no action when it is moved. Can you help? I am a do it your selfer,
but I don't know how the system looks or works,
need a picture of the system. Maybe a broken cable
or part. Is it a ez repair or not?

Sorry for the delay in replying.

The shifter cable has a metal rod on each end. They have a 90 degree hook that pops into a plastic grommet on the lever on top of the steering column and the lever on the transmission. Either of the ends could be disconnected, the cable could be broken, or the casing could be slipping under its mounting bracket on the transmission.
