Engine problem
1990 Chrysler New Yorker 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 150000 miles

I have been leaking oil in the driveway for a while. I looked under the hood and a mechanic tightend the bolt to the valve cover (front cover on the left side) way to tight and it broke off. Do I need to get a whole new head to get this fixed? I dont know if I can just get a cap replacement to hold down the intake shafts. That is what the valve cover bolts into. It is not possible to back the broken bolt out because while tightening it it broke off the treads as well. If you could help, It would be wonderful! Hopefully I don't need a new head.

Buy an extractor and extract it, then use a tap to tap out the hole and restore the threads if any are bad. If you cant extract it, you will have to drill it out then tap it to a size larger or the same size if possible.

You could also drill it out and put in a plug that is pre tapped.
