1988 Chrysler New Yorker Voltage drops while A/C Compressor

1988 Chrysler New Yorker 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

The battery voltage drops while the compressor is running and the car is idling. This also happens when the defroster is on.

Within reason, that is normal. Both the compressor and the blower motor draw a good bit of power; therefore, the gauge drops.
