De-activating a car alarm

Took my car to hae tires put on, the tech locked the doors with the electronic switch, so opening the car set off anti-theft. I have tried locking and unlocking both doors with the key, to no avail (this has worked in the past), and I have tried disconnecting the battery for about 20 mins, no change. Any ideas how to 'fool' the system into 'seeing' the keylock cancel? Ideas I have had and not yet tried include removing both battery cables and grounding the positive cable for a period to reset all voltages to 0, simulating keylock cancel by shorting the switch on the door lockset, or opening circuit depending on which condition (open/closed) the switch uses to cancel the alarm.

If anyone could give me a him as to if the first idea is advisable, or the chances it migh work, beyond that, advice as to how I would best accomplish the latter idea, and it's chance of working. Thrdly, if anyone has any other advice how I might get this alarm disabled, I would be greatly appreciative. Also, the car has been sitting overnight with the battery disconnected, is there a chance the car may have corrected itself by having had the battery disconnected this long? The car is a good distance from here and while the people at walmart are supposed to have it fixed, I have a great deal more confidence in my skills and expert advice than waiting on them..... PLEASE HELP ME! THANKS!

Unfortunately, anti-theft systems are most effective at keeping owners out of their cars. Most Chrysler systems have fewer problems than some from other manufacturers, but they aren't immune from having problems. In your case, if the key fob worked to lock the car and activate the theft system, it should work to unlock it too. If unlocking a front door with the key doesn't work, the most likely suspect is a broken wire between the door hinges. The next suspect is the linkage to the door switch is disconnected. You might also consider a defective switch, although I've never run into that.

In this car, the alarm system is incorporated into the Engine Computer AND the Body Computer. If you replace either computer and the new one doesn't have that programming, it will immediately learn it from the other computer as soon as you turn on the ignition switch. This is a problem if you install a salvage yard computer from a car that had anti-theft into your car that doesn't have it. The new computer will teach it to the other computer. There will never be a "turn-off signal coming, so the engine will never start and run. At that point you must install two computers that don't have anti-theft programming, at the same time. Once a computer is upgraded to the anti-theft programming, that can't be undone.
