Engine Mechanical problem
2001 Chrysler LHS 6 cyl Automatic 159000 miles

my key wont turn in the ignition. ive tried graphite powder and that didnt seem to have any affect. when i initially noticed the problem, i tried turning my steering wheel so now its locked up. i dont know if it is a tumbler inside the cylinder that is jammed or something more severe. possibly do i need a new lock cylinder? what else should i look for as a potential problem? any suggestions are much appreciated!!!

also - i might as well add that the remote start works and the car will still start, but obviously i need to turn the key in the ignition to go anywhere. but at least the car is capable of starting.

If you have tried lubericating it and a different key, then the tumbler must be bad. The bad part is to replace it you need to remove the steering wheel and part of the steering column.
