Engine problem
1997 Chrysler LHS 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 140000 miles

When I try to start my car the engine revs high then cuts off. I haven't been able to start it in 3 days. Prior to it not starting the gages on the dash would bounce back and forth from normal to zero while driving and out of the blue and the heater and A/C would come on simultaneously and can't be turned off. I could hear the engine rev a little. When I go to brake the car acts as if it needs more braking power to stop quickly. What causes this and how much would a typical repair cost? I'm a single mother who is very strapped and just trying so hard to get by. I bought this car about 10 months ago and have had trouble with it since mid May. Please advise. Thank you.

Yep, is sounds like the BCM has gone out, but to be sure we should do a CAN scan, you can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) which will work on most cars from Amazon here is a video to show you how.

You can get a preprogrammed BCM by searching Google or Ebay. Here is the location and how to change it out in case you get a code for it. Check out the images (below). Let us know what you find.
