My LeBaron has been overheating off & on for a while. Right now it has begun to NOT produce heat for the inside of the car and the coolant overflow tank appears to be overflowing thru the overflow vent on the side! Could this be caused by a faulty thermostat?

Another quirk: sometimes when I am driving at slow speeds for extended time periods and the engine begins to overheat I can force the engine RPMs to over 3grand and the temp will drop back to within normal range. What might be the cause of this?

Thanx in advance.....
