Suspension problem
1991 Chrysler Le Baron 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I would like to get an opinion on what is causing the rear left wheel to lockup on my 1991 Chrysler Lebaron. I sometimes used to wobble at 45 mph, but after accelerating faster, it would disappear. Have only owned the car a short while. Could it be the wheel bearings, or some suspension problem? If so, what is the average repair price?

Take a look under the car looking out at the inside of the tire/rim. If you see any oily fluid that has spun out from the drum area, you will have confirmed my thought that the wheel cylinder is leaking.

Also, look for a sticking parking brake cable that is not fully released. Your mechanic will flex the cable casing to see if the cable retracts some more. That's a big clue. During a brake inspection, he will try to move the strut rod between the two brake shoes. If no movement is possible, the parking brake cable is sticking or over-adjusted. That strut rod should have at least 1/16" free play when pushed against the anti-rattle spring.
