Transmission problem
1990 Chrysler Le Baron 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

while driving it made a loud noise like a thump then slowed down. I drove it home and left it alone. When I tried to drive it the next day it started like normal but when I put it in gear in wouldn't move. It starts to go forward in drive but acts like i'm pressing both the gas and brakes. I checked the fluid yesterday and though I didn't let it get to operating temp, it had plenty of fluid.

Hi:
After you heard the loud noise, did the transmission still continue to operate? Also, now does it feel like it's trying to go both forward and backwards at the same time? Finally, does the engine rev in gear like it's in neutral or does it act like it's gear?

Let me know so I can better help you.

Joe

After that noise it still continued to work and drove home with only 1 problem. It felt like it took too long for it to get back to speed from sitting at a redlight or stop sign. It feels like it tries to go in the direction the gear is in, if it's in drive then it feels like it wants to go forward and if it's in reverse it feels like it wants to go backwards. When I shift into reverse it revs like its in reverse and I don't notice much difference from park to drive.
