2001 Chrysler Intrepid lower ball-joints and control arms

Hello, I need some help on my car, I have a 2001 Chrysler Intrepid and I took it too my mechanic to get it checked out to see what it needs for a certification and it needed ball-joints. I was doing research and I found that control arms and ball-joints are all in one. I bought both left and ride side lower ball-joints for it and I wanna try to put them on my self, is it something I can do or should I have my mechanic handle it?
