1999 Chrysler Intrepid rough idle

I have a 99 intrepid, with a 3.2 V6. Occasionally it will idle and run very rough, but will not cause the check engine light to come on. It seems to be totally random. It will eventually clear itself up, or sometimes if the engine is turned off and restarted it will run fine. The car has always been looked after, and just had new plugs put in.

check the idle air control valve, that is mostlikely the problem.
