2000 2.5 diesil got new rear shoes and now handbrake pulls rigth up but nothing there,have to leave in gear to park please help

Find the equalizer and tighten up the slack then adjust the handbrake. Don't work you might to go back in the rear brakes and adjust the brake adjuster lever.
