I don't know if it's the battery or alternator. My car won't start unless jumped and won't stay on if idled more then 10 min.

How many miles? Does the Check Engine light come on? Does the Battery light come on?

After charging the battery at a low rate for half an hour, remove the charger, then measure the voltage across the two posts with a cheap digital voltmeter. A fully charged battery will read around 12.6 volts. If you find closer to 11.0 volts or less, there's a shorted cell in the battery.

If the voltage is around 12.6, measure again with the engine running. It must be between 13.75 and 14.75. If it is low, holler back; we'll need to make some measurements on the two small wires on the back of the alternator while the engine is running.
