What is the pan at the front and bottom of the engine. I have fluid leaking out of it, but cannot tell if its transmission fluid, oil or coolant.

Hi:

The oil pan is at the bottom of the engine. However, the water pump is above it in the front (belt side) and the transmission pan is on the other side (passanger side). Can you explain what side the leak is coming from (Passanger side or driver's side)? Also, can you tell what color the fluid is?
