2000 Chrysler Concorde down shifting hard

When slowing down and braking around 20mph the transmission downshifts real hard. When trying to move again after stopping it will not up-shift It is necessary to turn the car off and then, when restarted and moving it will shift normally.

It could be a bad shift solenoid, computer. Has the check engine light come on?

Yes, the check engine light does come on.

The check engine light is telling you that there is a code stored in the computer. The code will identify where the problem is coming from.

What I recommend is that you take the vehicle to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer. Most of the stores will for free, so there is no money out of pocket.

Once you get the code, let me know what it is and we'll go from there.

My son finally got the codes from Autozone today.

Here they are and the all start with a P:
1776,1784,1781,1768,0731 & 0700
