Engine Performance problem
1999 Chrysler Concorde 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 140.00 miles

Hi My car is very hard to start in the morning, After 15 tries, it starts. The starter is craking fine and I hear the fuel pump as when I turn the ignition on. Once I get it started, it shuts off. After several more attemps, it will start, but I have to keep my foot on the gas for about 5 minutes, the engine will run but it shutters and it will shut off. Once it is warm after running it for 15 minutes, it runs fine, no problems. I put new spark plugs in it and tried the next day and I still the same problem. The check engine light is on also. Do you have any suggestions. THANKS.

Have you checked fuel pump pressure? Has the check engine light come on?

Hi. I asked a local machanic about this. He suggest I take out the camshaft sensor, clean it off, and try to start it. Well, that worked, and is starts and runs fine now. So, what does that mean? Are things deteriorating inside like the camshaft?

No, I'm sure everything is fine. They do get dirty and it can cause problems. At least it is fixed. As far as the cam itself, I'm sure it's fine.

Let me know if you have other questions.
