my car shakes while driving. The front wheels are what shakes. When I brake the shaking gets worse. What might be the problem?

Check for a loose or bent wheel. More common would be a broken belt in a tire. A tire shop will find this very quickly. If you only notice it at highway speeds, suspect a tire out-of-balance. A shaking in the steering wheel between 20-40 mph and goes away when you take your foot off the gas could be a worn and binding inner cv joint.
