Blower won't shut off and temperature display (control head) won't display anything.
Diagnostics say that I need to replace the control head and the blower motor power module. Parts + Labor = $1100.

Is it easy to replace these parts myself? Where could I get these parts cheaper than from the dealer?

Hi Gus. Bill here.

Just a little hint about how to get help a little faster, other than from me. The gents who volunteer as moderators are supposed to work on a list of postings who have donated some $$ to the site. The 2CarPros folks guarantee a speedy reply if you do. Otherwise, you join a couple of thousand others waiting for someone to take an interest in your question. Regardless of whether or not anyone gives you a hand, I'll do what I can for you.

Your question about getting parts cheaper than the dealer - I was able to locate a place that sold me the blower motor control module for about half of what a new one cost. Understand that when you go this route, you're getting a part that has been salvaged from another car. For me it worked just fine and I was back in business immediately. The same place sells the ATC heads too, again, salvaged and at a reduced cost.

I'd recommend tackling the blower speed issue first. Until you get that handled, it doesn't matter much about the ATC issue. I found that driving around with the blower going 90 miles an hour just about drove me nuts. There are some tests you can do that will pretty much verify if it is the blower control module or not. You'll need to have a voltmeter to be able to do the tests.

Based on what I told you in my last post last night, is this something you think you are up to, mechanically speaking? Again, if you are near SoCal, I'll lend a hand if you need it. Otherwise, you might be able to find a friend who would help out.

Let me know what you'd like to do.

Bill
