What is the correct way to check tranny fluid level. Hot, cold, engine running or off?

With vehicle on level surface, start engine and operate at idle speed for a minimum of one minute. Move selector through all transaxle ranges, then place selector lever in Park position. Remove dipstick and check fluid level. Transaxle should be at operating temperature when checking fluid level (160-180 °F ). Fluid level should be within the Hot range on dipstick. If necessary, add MOPAR ATF plus 4 (Type 9602 ) automatic transmission fluid to bring fluid level within the Hot range.
