my check engine light was on so I went to auto zone and they said I was having problems with my erg. They acted like they really didn't know what that was or what to do to fix it. Is there anything you could suggest?

Welcome to the forum. Can you give us the actual code number? Are there any driveability issues, besides the check engine lite?
