My lower ball joint is bad and i looked online and they sell the just the lower ball joint but some people are saying that its one piece you have to buy the whole lower control arm that the ball joint doesn't come out is this true or can i just buy the ball joint?

Yes, it's true. Following Ford's lead with the Taurus, this is a complete assembly. It goes together faster on the assembly line, but you pay a whole lot more for the part, and it will require an alignment because no two control arms are exactly the same.

Just one of many reasons I still drive a 1988 Grand Caravan, and will never buy a new car. Ball joints for all of my Chryslers cost less than 15 bucks. Your control arm from the dealer is $180.00. Aftermarket parts are less.
