On my car, I had to replace the alternator, and now after I got everything put back on, I can not get the pulley to tighten the belt. The pulley will tighten on the bracket, but I can not get the pulley to get the belt tight enough. What should I do next?

If you're using the old belt, check the routing diagram on the timing belt cover or radiator support. It's possible to route the belt incorrectly around all the pullies.
